There is no place like the California Coast, whether you are at the Northern tip or the southern tip it’s all breathtaking. Carmel-by-the-Sea is one of the most adorable towns along the coast of California, it exudes a timeless charm. The quaint streets are lined with storybook cottages, art galleries, and boutique shops. This picturesque village is walkable and charming.
Where to Stay: The Getaway (now Le Petit Pali)
The grounds
They were super well kept. The hotel is located at the entrance of the strip, situated next to various restaurants. I loved that they had an outdoor patio area with a fire pit to enjoy early in the morning or late at night. It really helped us relax and feel at home.
The room
It looks like they have done some renovations since we stayed there in 2018, making the rooms burst with personality.

Since discovering this coffee a few years ago, we consistently order it as part of our bean rotation — Fog Lifter is our favorite blend.
La Bicyclette

A Carmel classic. Charming French bistro nestled in the heart of town. The restaurant is relaxed and inviting — the perfect cozy ambiance for brunch, lunch or dinner.
Brophy’s Tavern
Carmel-by-the-Sea | Â Website: Here
Your classic Irish pub with elevated decor and a relaxed and inviting coastal atmosphere. Honestly, all the food was delicious, but our go to order is Pretzel, Fish & Chips, Cobb Salad & Burger.
Salt Wood Kitchen & Oyesterette
Monterey | Website: Here
Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of Carmel and Monterey, this hidden gem is well worth the journey. A locally-focused restaurant, sourcing fresh produce from nearby farms, offers a unique open-flame dining experience just steps from the beach. Plan your visit to coincide with the breathtaking sunset— if you have never experienced a California Coastline sunset, be prepared, it may bring you to tears.
Forge in the Forest

Honestly, not the best food, but the outdoor garden is adorable. So might be a good spot to stop and grab a drink and a lite bite.
On our list for next time:
Things to do
Art Galleries off Ocean Ave.
Hike the Point Lobos loop from Whaler’s Cove (about a 2 hour hike)
Tor House — Robinson Jeffers Home. Despite visiting Carmel multiple times, I had never stumbled upon this hidden gem until traveling with my man. Leave it to my husband to uncover a historical writer in every town we explore.
Explore the scenic 17 mile drive and admire all the incredible houses in Pebble Beach. (Some of the best stops include the Cypress Point Lookout, Crocker Cypress Grove, and Ford Meadow.)
Mission Carmel — One of my favorite missions in California.
Bixby Bridge — The most breathtaking, picturesque iconic view. We went for sunrise and despite being extremely foggy, it was still beautiful.
Enjoy a sunset on the beach
